Cemeteries and Disappearance:Uncomfortable Grounds for Death in Colombia

One of the main concerns among victims’ organisations, the UBDP and the JEP is what will happen with the remains and the bodies of people who disappeared in cemeteries during COVID-19? The Office of the Attorney General and the JEP have agreed special measures to ensure the protection and conservation of bodies that were removed without proper protocol. The UBDP’s Search Plan, launched last May, lays out the strategies they are using to find the location of disappeared persons, recover their corpses, identify them and deliver them with dignity to their families, highlighting its humanitarian and extrajudicial mandate.
